For the first time in many years, Bollywood will witness some big ticket releases with huge star-power all in the month of January 2016, generally considered a ‘jinx’ for the industry. From megastar Amitabh Bachchan, superstar Akshay Kumar to filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, all are set to release their films in the first month of 2016, leading to many clashes at the box office. Wazir (January 8, 2016): Year 2016 will begin with 'Wazir', starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Farhan Akhtar. The high voltage drama-thriller is produced by filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and helmed by 'Shaitan' director Bejoy Nambiar.
Chauranga (January 8, 2016): 'Wazir' will clash with social-drama 'Chauranga', produced by Onir and starring actor Sanjay Suri, Tannishtha Chatterjee among others. 'Chauranga' is the story of a smitten young boy Santu, who gets in trouble for writing a love letter to a girl belonging to an upper caste in a remote village.
Chalk n Duster (January 15, 2016): January 15 also marks the return of actress Juhi Chawla on big screen. Juhi makes a come back after two years with 'Chalk n Duster'. The film, which brings life of two teachers, also stars veteran actress Shaban Azmi, Zarina Wahab and Divya Dutta.
Airlift (January 22, 2016): Based on the evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war, Akshay Kumar starrer 'Airlift' will release on January 22. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film also stars Nimrat Kaur.
Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 (January 22, 2016): January 22 is another clash at the box office as the adult comedy 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3' releases with 'Airlift'. 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3' is the third instalment of the immensely popular adult-comedy series 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum'. It stars actors Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani along with Bigg Boss 9 contestants Mandana Karimi and Gizele Thakral.
Saala Khadoos (January 29, 2016): The last Friday of the month will end with yet another adult-comedy clashing with a big-star film. Sunny Leone's 'Madtizaade' and R Madhavan’s 'Saala Khadoos' will release on January 29.
Produced by Rajkumar Hirani, 'Saala Khadoos' is a bilingual sports drama film helmed by debutant Sudha Kongara. The film features Madhavan as a hard task-master boxing coach and also stars boxer Ritika Singh.
Mastizaade (January 29, 2016): Another adult comedy, 'Mastizaade' will release in January. The film will see Sunny Leone in a double role and also features actor Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das. The film's trailer is already a hit on social media.
