That special time of the year is here again… A time for love, chocolates, fancy dinners and of course movie dates and any Valentine's Day is incomplete without Bollywood movies. So, we give you our pick of the all-time favourite mushiest films including ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘The Notebook’.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Who can forget Bollywood’s greatest love story of all time! The story of NRI boy Raj and the traditional desi girl Simran with the strict dad who forbids the young romance has been the biggest and longest running hit ever. The melodious songs and of course the crackling chemistry between Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan will definitely make your hearts beat faster.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Karan Johar’s love triangle between three college kids – Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji - taught us about love and friendship. The beautiful story about how a little girl reunites her widowed father and his college sweetheart always gets us in tears.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam: Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai stole our hearts with their brilliant performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic romantic drama with a whole lot of song and dance. It was on the sets of this film that Salman and Aishwarya fell in love with each other.
Jab We Met: Falling in love is an adventure and that is exactly the case with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’. Starring another real-life couple from the past, Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, ‘Jab We Met’ tells the tale of a feisty Punjabi girl and a depressed Mumbai businessman who turn each other’s worlds upside down.
Mohabattein: Shah Rukh Khan played the ultimate cupid in Aditya Chopra’s ‘Mohabbatein’ wherein he successfully brings together young lovers, played by Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Jimmy Shergill, Preeti Jhangiani, Jugal Hasraj and Kim Sharma. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, ‘Mohabattein’ is a film that reminds us that in the end, love does indeed conquer all.
Sleepless In Seattle: Sure to comfort you on a cold night, Sleepless In Seattle is a beautiful film about a widowed architect and his son. The film revolves around the architects healing from losing his wife, and finding love again.
When Harry Met Sally: Starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, the film follows the lead characters journey through twelve years, and tackles the fundamental question – can men and women ever be just friends?
Pretty Woman: From prostitute to loving in a pent house, ‘Pretty Woman’ is the perfect fairytale romance wherein Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) is rescued by a prince in shining amour, rich businessman Edward Lewis (Richard Gere).
The Notebook: Based on a book by Nicholas Spark, this romantic drama beings with a passionate love story between teenagers Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams). However, these young lovers are torn apart and later reunite with the same passion and tenderness, no matter how many years have gone by.
A Walk to Remember: This romantic musical will have you sobbing as it unravels. But, Landon’s (Shane West) world changes when he falls for the Miss Goody Two Shoes, Jamie (Mandy Moore). And before he knows it, not only has she brought light and love in his life, but she’s changed his heart and his mind. ‘A Walk to Remember’ is a classic love story, where two young people decide to come together, no matter how long they have left with each other.
