You may know her as little Jia from Kal Ho Naa Ho, or the girl from the famous show Karishma Kaa Karishma, but in real life she actually goes by the name Jhanak Shukla. Nineties' kids would very well remember many li'l stars like her. Thirteen years later, we caught up with Jhanak through her Instagram account, and we found that she still looks as cute as ever. Jhanak is now 20, and has left the glitzy film industry to pursue her education.
Not many know that Jhanak is the daughter of documentary filmmaker Haril Shukla and TV and Bollywood actress Supriya Shukla. Her greatest success till date is her character Jia Kapur in the 2003 drama Kal Ho Naa Ho, with Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. In the film, she played the adopted daughter of Jaya Bachchan.
Jhanak's mother Supriya is part of the popular serial Kumkum Bhagya, where she plays lead actress Pragya's mother Sarla Arora. The actress has also acted in a number of Bollywood films, such as Parineeta.
Jhanak still recalls her Kal Ho Naa Ho journey, occasionally sharing the throw-back images from the film.
In 2006, as Princey Shukla, she starred with Rajit Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma and Irfan Khan in the film Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante, in which she played Anishka Goenka, who was kidnapped in the film.
She also acted in the TV series Karishma Kaa Karishma (remake of Small Wonder) and Star Plus' Son Pari for some time.
