Year 2015 has been a year of movies from different genres. From movies like 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' to Piku, 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', 'Dil Dhadakne do' and 'Drishyam' , silver screen had lot to offer and many big hits. Actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan went on to provide quality entertainment on the big screen this year as well. Here is a list of some films which did some exceptional business in 2015.
Hate Story 3 - Karan Singh Grover, Zareen Khan, Daisy Shah, Sharman Joshi
Recently released, 'Hate Story 3' has been going strong thanks to its good contentand strong word of mouth. A sequel of the famous 'Hate Story' franchise, the film featured actor Karan Singh Grover, Zareen Khan, Daisy Shah and Sharman Joshi. Still running at the theatres, the film has already earned Rs. 31.22 cr in just four days of its release.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor): Salman Khan's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' bags the No. 1 slot in the Top 10 movies of 2015. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which was Salman Khan's second release of the year 2015, collected Rs. 165.43 cr in India after the first week of its release. The film, which brought back the Prem from 90s, was loved by all Salman Khan fans. After witnessing a smashing start at the box office by minting in Rs. 40.35 cr on the first day of its release just a day after Diwali, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo did well thanks to the strong word of mouth and its simple content.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 - Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha
'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2' came with a bang and the fans once again went gaga over Kartik Aaryan's 12 minute long dialogue. Nushrat Bharucha carried her role forth from the first part of the film, while we git to see new faces like that of Sonalli Sehgall, Sunny Singh, Ishita Raj and Omkar Kapoor. The film fared well at the box office and successfully collected Rs. 22.75 cr on the first day itself.
Jazbaa - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Irrfan Khan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a stunning comeback with this Sanjay Gupta film. She played the role of a daughter and a mother in this film. Irrfan Khan was also a part of the movie and played the role of a cop in the film. 'Jazbaa' stands among one of the hit films of this year.
Singh is Bliing - Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Lara Dutta
Akshay Kumar was once again seen as a Sardar on screen after his film 'Singh is Kinng' showcasing both his comic and action side on camera. British actress Amy Jackson was seen taking on the villains in this movie while former Miss Universe Lara Dutta played the role of a translator between Akshay and Amy. The film did well at the business front and made its way among the hit films of this year.
Kis Kisko Pyar Karun - Kapil Sharma, Elli Avram
Director duo Abbas-Mustan launched funnyman Kapil Sharma in their film 'Ki Kisko Pyaar Karoon'. A comic film, Sharma played the role of a husband stuck between three wives and a girlfriend. The film was hilarious and was enjoyed by families at the theatres. It earned Rs 49.38 cr at the box office.
Hero - Athiya Shetty, Sooraj Pancholi
Salman Khan launched new comers in 'Hero'. Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty and Aditya Pancholi's son Sooraj Pancholi got a dream launchpad. The film was extensively promoted and the actors became famous even before the release of the film. The film did a business of Rs 33.37 cr at the box office.
Talvar - Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan
Bollywood drama written by Vishal Bhardwaj and directed by Meghna Gulzar, Talvar was based on the famous murder mystery of Noida's Aarushi murder case. The film earned appreciation from all over and it also good business. The film's success helped it to be listed among the hit films of 2015.
Welcome Back - John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Shruti Haasan
After Akshay Kumar rib tickled everyone in 'Welcome', it was his 'Garam Masala' co-actor John Abraham's turn to do the same in the film's sequel. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar were seen in this film as well, while Shruti Haasan replaced Katrina Kaif. Though the film could not make it to the Rs 100 cr club, but entered the list of hit films with a total collection of Rs. 96.69 cr.
Brothers - Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez
Akshay was also seen in Karan Malhotra's 'Gabbar is Back' which also starred Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film which revolved around two brothers (Akshay and Sidharth) featured Jackie Shroff as their father. The film earned a total of Rs. 82.47 cr at the box office.
Drishyam - Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu
Ajay Devgn played a family man in 'Drishyam'. Sriya Saran played his wife while Tabu played a cop who sets out to take revenge from Ajay Devgn's family for her son's death. Diected by Nishikanth Kamat, the movie was a remake of Malyalam film with the same title and did good business at the box office.
ABCD 2 - Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor
After 'ABCD' garnered a lot of interest, Remo D'Souza went further to make the sequel of the film titled 'ABCD 2' with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the film. While Prabhudheva reprised the role of the dance trainer, Lauren was also seen in this one. The film did well and entered the 100 cr club, with its lifetime earnings being Rs. 105.74 cr.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan
Another Salman Khan film 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' was loved by all his fans. The actor played the role of Hanuman Bhakt and was appreciated for his acting. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film also features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Child actor Harshaali Malhotra made her debut in Bollywood with the film. The film also crossed the Rs 300 crore mark. Collectively both Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan have earned a whopping Rs 500 crore plus on the box office.
Dil Dhadakne Do - Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor
Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar entertained fans in the Zoya Akhtar film. Set entirely on a cruise, the film, which was more about fashionable clothes and beautiful locations, was loved by fans. It also brought back the culture of cruise holidays back in fashion. Anil Kapoor played the role of Ranveer and Priyanka's father, while Shefali Shah played his wife. The film did well and collected Rs 76.88 cr.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns - Kangana Ranaut, R Madhavan
Kangana Ranaut, who had won hearts of many with her character of Tanu in 'Tanu Weds Manu', reprised her role for the sequel. Also seen in double role, Kangana was a treat to watch in her role of a Haryanvi girl. Madhavan was also at his best in the film. The Anand L Rai film earned Rs. 150.77 cr at the box office.
Masaan - Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi, Vicky Kaushal
Critically acclaimed film 'Masaan' starring Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi and Vicky Kaushal won a long standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festical this year. The film was also heaped with praises from all over.
Piku - Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan
Deepika Padukone won accolades for playing the role of a dutiful daughter 'Piku' in the Shoojit Sircar film. She along with her onscreen father Amitabh Bachchan go on a journey from Delhi to Kolkata with Irrfan Khan. The film earned good Rs 79.77 cr in its entire run.
Gabbar Is Back - Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan
Akshay Kumar has managed to keep his fans entertained this year with all his films have become a hit. After 'Singh is Bliing' and 'Baby', the actor also donned the avatar of Gabbar in 'Gabbar is Back'. He was seen with Shruti Haasan in the film. The film fared well at the box office and earned Rs. 87.55 cr during its entire run.
Hunterr - Gulshan Devaiah, Radhika Apte, Sai Tamhankar
Gulshan Devaiah was seen in this adult comedy film opposite Radhika Apte and Sai Tamhankar. The film was written and directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni. A film of its kind, 'Hunterrr' had its own fans who helped it become a hit of this year.
Badlapur - Varun Dhawan, Yami Gautam
Varun Dhawan shelved his chocolate boy, boy next door image with 'Badlapur'. Varun won many fans with his performance in this revenge drama. Yami Guatam, who played the role of Varun's wife wasn't much seen. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film earned Rs. 50.07 cr.
NH 10 - Anushka Sharma, Neil Bhoopalam
Anuska Sharma stunned everyone with her performance in 'NH10'. She was seen opposite Neil Bhoopalam in the film. Directed by Navdeep Singh, the movie released early this year in March and had a long lasting impact on the viewers. The actress, who turned producer for NH 10, won accolades for her performance. The film did a business of Rs 32.39 cr.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha - Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi Pednekar made her debut in Bollywood with the hit film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Sharat Kataria did an excellent job with direction in this film which also featured noted actors like Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa and Sheeba Chaddha.
Baby - Akshay Kumar, Madhurima Tuli, Taapsee Pannu
Another hit by Akshay Kumar was spy thriller 'Baby'. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the spy action thriller released early this year in January. Made on a budget of Rs. 58.97 cr, the movie earned Rs. 95.56 cr and became first hit of this year.
