It's just a matter of day for the audience to topple a film's box office rankings. Raaz Reboot featuring Emraan Hashmi in a negative role showed promising growth on the first day. However, the film somehow couldn't manage to keep the same momentum on following days while Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu's Pink came out from the cold to become people's darling. However, this is not to say Raaz Reboot is not doing well. In fact, the film has benefited from the presence of Emraan as well as other elements characteristic of a typical Bhatt Camp film. It has songs, new faces, beautiful locales to offset the average horror part. Pink, meanwhile, has managed to start a debate on different platforms. Pink, which picked up slowly on the first day, has eventually gained momentum following a strong word-of-mouth publicity. So far, both Pink and Raaz Reboot are neck and neck in competition to win over the audiences.
The total weekend collection of Raaz Reboot is Rs 18.09 crore while Pink has so far collected Rs 21.51 crore. This is too early to predict the overall performance of both the films. Unlike big movie clashes at the box office, both Pink and Raaz Reboot target a certain kind of audience. While Raaz Reboot is doing particularly well in single screens, Pink is attracting a niche audience in multiplexes. Pink witnessed a strong growth on Saturday, earning Rs 7.65 crores, a remarkable jump from Rs 4.32 crores on Friday. On Sunday, the film made Rs 9.54 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#RaazReboot doesn't witness growth on Sun... Single screens better... Fri 6.30 cr, Sat 5.49 cr, Sun 6.30 cr. Total: ₹ 18.09 cr. India biz."
Taran also shared, "#Pink Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr. Total: ₹ 11.97 cr. India biz... OUTSTANDING at plexes... ₹ 20 cr [+/-] weekend on the cards."
Besides direction and performances, Pink is also garnering praise for its excellent writing, which is often not given its due credit in Bollywood. The film is written by Ritesh Shah who has earlier written films including Airlift, Madaari, Kahaani and D-Day.
Raaz Reboot is the fourth instalment in horror film series --Raaz. It is written and directed by Vikram Bhatt.
