Karan Johar's smashing blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai completes a run of 19 years today. And Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's release in 1998 was no less than a landmark for Bollywood. Millennials fell in love with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in the characters of Rahul, Anjali and Tina. And the dialogues from "Pyar Dosti Hai!" to "Kuch kuch hota hai Rahul, tum nahi samjhoge" became etched in our memories forever. Even though KKHH was Karan's first film, the behind-the-scenes from the sets were no less interesting. Karan Johar originally planned to cast Twinkle Khanna as the second lead and had even named the character Tina after Twinkle’s nickname, but was forced to make adaptations in the movie’s line-up after she turned the role down. In fact, Karan also revealed in an interview with CNN that he had first written a love triangle between a tomboy, a very pretty girl, and a slightly insensitive boy but that idea got shelved. Later, he came up with a story about a widower and his child, which got rejected as well. Eventually, the two were merged into one and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was born.
