Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who is considered to be one of the most versatile and talented actors in the industry, turns 46 today. The 'Gangaajal' actor, who was last seen in 'Singham Returns', has won numerous awards for his outstanding performances. Let's have a look at the top roles of the talented actor.
Phool Aur Kaante (1991): Ajay Devgn began his career in 1991 with the movie 'Phool Aur Kaante'. The star showed glimpses of the variety with which he could emote, be it romance, revenge or sadness. Co-starring Madhu and late Amrish Puri, the movie became a huge hit and Ajay embarked on his journey to super stardom.
Omkara (2006): Ajay Devgn gave one of his best performances in Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Omkara'. He played the titular role of Omkara Shukla in the movie which was an adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy Othello.

Company (2002): Ram Gopal Varma's gangster epic 'Company' had Ajay Devgn play a ruthless underworld don. The film received positive reviews from critics and a thumbs up from fans.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) : This romantic flick directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali saw Ajay Devgn play husband to Aishwarya Rai. Ajay Devgn's sacrificial husband act won him many fans and nominations for several awards too.
Raincoat (2004): Directed by Rituparno Ghosh, 'Raincoat', featured Ajay Devgn opposite actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Ajay Devgn played an unemployed Manu from a small town, who is in search of money to finance his new business as he has lost his earlier job at a jute mill. The film tells the story of two lovers, separated by destiny, who meet again one day. Raincoat won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and was nominated for the Crystal Globe for Best Feature Film at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) : The Legend of Bhagat Singh was a historical biographical film about Bhagat Singh. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, it featured Ajay Devgn in lead role. Ajay Devgn was appreciated for playing Bhagat Singh to perfection. The film went on to win two National Film Awards, including the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Khakee (2004): Ajay Devgn played his first negative role in the 2004 mulit-starrer action drama 'Khakee'. The actor was appreciated for his performance as a ruthless killer and former cop Yashwant Angre.
Apaharan (2005): Ajay Devgn played the role of an aspiring police officer but in the end turns a criminal owing to circumstances. Ajay Devgan's transformation from a simpleton to a criminal was seen as the high points of his performance in the movie.
Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014): Rohit Shetty's action film 'Singham' saw the return of Ajay Devgn to the action genre after a gap of eight long years. And the result was a blockbuster. Singham became one of the highest grossing movies of 2011. Rohit carried forward the franchise and made 'Singham Returns' in 2014, which went to gross more than Rs 100 cr at the Box Office.
Golmaal Series - 2006, 2008 and 2010: Ajay Devgn again collaborated with good friend Rohit Shetty for the 'Golmaal' trilogy, which amassed appreciation from the audiences for the light hearted comedy. Ajay played Gopal, a role very different from the ones he had been playing till then.
