2014 has been considerably good for Bollywood for as many as nine movies - 'PK', 'Kick', 'Happy New Year' among others - made it to the Rs 100 cr club. Let's have a look at the movies which are likely to make headlines in 2015:
SHAMITABH
The Amitabh Bachchan - Dhanush starrer 'Shamitabh' is a story about a mute and deaf actor, who collaborates with a voice artist. But what happens when 'ego' comes in between?
Directed by R Balki, the movie also marks the Bollywood debut of Kamal Haasan's younger daughter Akshara Haasan. 'Shamitabh' is slated to release on February 6.
BADLAPUR
Varun Dhawan changes his 'chocolate boy' image for better in the revenge drama 'Badlapur'. Starring Huma Qureshi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the movie also has Yami Gautam in a prominent role.
'Badlapur' releases on February 20.
DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY!
The official Hindi adaptation of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s stories of iconic detective Byomkesh Bakshi, the movie has Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead role. The promos have generated enough interest among the viewers, and the movie is expected to be a dark horse of 2015. It releases on April 10.
PIKU
Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku' stars Amitabh Bachchan as father and Deepika Padukone as his daughter and explores the father daughter relationship. The drama-comedy is set in Kolkata and also stars Irrfan Khan.
The movie is slated to release on April 30.
BOMBAY VELVET
Set in the "Bombay" of 1960s, 'Bombay Velvet' is based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book 'Mumbai Fables' and tells the story of a street fighter and a jazz singer. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar as the antagonist.
It's set to hit the theatres on May 15.
DIL DHADAKNE DO
Another travel-based movie by Zoya Akhtar, 'Dil Dhadakne Do' features Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh. The movie is narrated aboard a cruise liner and explores the nature of relationships between friends and families.
The film releases on June 5.
FAN
In this Maneesh Sharma movie, a filmstar swaps places with his biggest fan, who is also his lookalike. The interesting plot and the casting - Shah Rukh Khan - calls for a watch.
The movie releases on August 14.
PREM RATAN DHAN PAAYO
A family drama with a royal backdrop, 'Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo' will mark Sooraj Bharjatya’s directorial comeback after the 2006 'Vivah' starring Shahid Kapoor.
'Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo' features Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor and is set to release on November 1.
BAJIRAO MASTANI
An epic love story that tells the fictionalised love tale of Peshwa Bajirao and his second wife Mastani, stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the aformentioned roles. Priyanka Chopra plays Bajirao's first wife Kashibai.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie will release on December 25.
SHAANDAAR
'Queen' director Vikas Bahl has roped in 'Haider' Shahid Kapoor and 'Highway' actress Alia Bhatt for his next flick 'Shaandaar'. Quite a 'Shaandaar' team, we must admit!
TAMASHA
Deepika Padukone's second Christmas release is a love story between a nomad and a girl he meets. They form a troupe and eventually fall for one another. The nomad will be played by Ranbir Kapoor.
