Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned on Tuesday, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of doing “injustice” with his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party by not including it in the seat-sharing deal with allies for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Bihar, news agency PTI reported.
His announcement came at a press conference a day after the BJP-led NDA announced its seat-sharing pact and gave five seats to the Chirag Paswan-led LJP (Ram Vilas). He did not elaborate his future plans.
Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “big leader,” Paras said, “I have resigned as Union minister. PM Modi is a big leader but injustice being done to me and my party.”
The RLJP president said he was thankful to Modi before expressing his displeasure. He said he had served the National Democratic Alliance with honesty and loyalty but received injustice, according to PTI.
