Meanwhile the Election Commission of India (ECI) Tuesday warned two Bengaluru restaurants after they announced plans to offer free breakfast and food to voters. Tushar Giri Nath, the chief commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), who is also the ex-officio electoral officer for Bengaluru city, said in a statement: “It is a violation of the model code of conduct to distribute food and drinks at a discounted price or for free. The restaurant owner will be held responsible and legal action will be initiated.”
