Former WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer Sika passed away on June 25 at the age of 79. The news of Sika’s demise was confirmed by his nephew Jahrus Anoa’i through an Instagram post with a heartfelt message towards his now late Uncle. Sika, whose real name was Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, was also the father of the former WWE Universal Champion and current superstar Roman Reigns.

In professional wrestling, Sika achieved legendary status alongside his brother Afa as “The Wild Samoans,” a tag team that dominated the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Anoa’i brothers, known for their imposing physiques and fierce determination, formed a formidable tag team named “The Wild Samoans.” Their aggressive and often unorthodox style resonated with audiences.

The Wild Samoans found success in various promotions, including the WWF. Their arrival in the WWF in 1977 marked the beginning of a dominant run. They challenged established tag teams and feuded with the likes of Bob Backlund and Bruno Sammartino. The Wild Samoans captured the WWF World Tag Team Championship three times, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Sika and his brother Afa were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2012, Sika received further recognition with his induction into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. These accolades cemented his place amongst wrestling’s elite. Notably, his son Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, a.k.a. Roman Reigns, also acknowledged the prayers and condolences from the wrestling universe through his post on X (Formerly known as Twitter), where he thanked everyone for their support towards him and his family in this difficult times.
