The military attempted a coup in Turkey on Friday night. As the news took over Turkish media outlets, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan came out to give a speech using ‘FaceTime’. President Erdogan insisted that he still is in control of the country.
The Turkish President also urged people to come out on streets to mark a protest against military’s attempted coup.
On Twitter, users shared videos of scenes in Istanbul and Ankara, with gunshots heard in the background of some videos.

The Turkish President also marked that the coup attempt is taken up by a minority faction within the military. He vowed that the culprits would meet a “necessary response”, according to Reuters.
14 police officers were killed in in repelling the coup.
People took to the streets to come out in support of the democratically elected government. World leaders condemned the attack and urged people to support the government.
