US President-elect Donald Trump today pledged that his administration “will do everything” to keep the scourge of terrorism out of America, and called for uniting the country by rejecting bigotry and prejudice. Kicking off his first post-election victory rally from the key battle ground State of Ohio, Trump mentioned about the recent car-and-knife attack at Ohio State University saying it “fully illustrates” the security problems caused by “stupid politicians” and an immigration system that fails to screen out dangerous, would-be terrorists.

“We will do everything in our power to keep the scourge of terrorism out of our country,” Trump said in his address to thousands of his supporters in Cincinnati.

“People are pouring in from regions of the Middle East. We have no idea who they are, where they are, what they are thinking. And we are going to stop that dead cold flat. You just take a good look at what just happened in your state,” he said in the rally, wherein he spoke about radical Islamic terrorism.

“You have just experienced a violent atrocity at the great Ohio State University,” Trump said.

The attack “fully illustrates” the security problems caused by “stupid politicians” and an immigration system that fails to screen out dangerous, would-be terrorists, Trump said.

On Monday, an 18-year-old Somalia-born student rammed his car into a crowd at Ohio State University and attacked them with a butcher knife, injuring 11 before police fatally shot him.

The attacker was a Somalian refugee who lived in Pakistan for a few years before coming to the US.

In his speech, Trump called Americans to unite, saying the country had no choice but to come together and reject bigotry.

“We condemn bigotry and prejudice in all of its forms. We denounce all of the hatred and we forcefully reject the language of exclusion and separation. We have no choice. We have to, and it’s better,” he said.

“We spend too much time focusing on what divides us. Now it’s time to embrace the one thing that united us: it’s America, because when America is unified, nothing is beyond our reach,” he added.
