US President Donald Trump said on Monday that it was “very important” for Israel to keep a steady dialogue with Syria, as he expressed support for efforts to rebuild the country.

Trump said in a Truth Social post that the United States was “very satisfied with the results displayed” in Syria and that Washington was working to ensure the Syrian government stayed on its planned path. However, he stressed that progress depended on avoiding any steps that might disrupt Syria’s direction.

“We are doing everything within our power to make sure the Government of Syria continues to do what was intended,” he said, adding that his decision to end “very strong and biting sanctions” had helped. He said he believed this move was appreciated “by Syria, its leadership, and its people”.

Trump said Israel should maintain “a strong and true dialogue with Syria” and that nothing should hinder Syria’s “evolution into a prosperous state”.

He also praised Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, saying he was “working diligently” to support progress and to build a long-term relationship between Syria and Israel.

“This is a historic opportunity, and adds to the success already attained for peace in the Middle East,” Trump said in his Truth Social post.
