After the US House of Representatives passed the Epstein Transparency Act with an overwhelming majority on Tuesday, the Senate also unanimously agreed to pass the bill to release files related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, sending the bill to President Donald Trump to sign which would force the Justice Department to release the files on the late financier, Reuters reported.
The House passed the measure with a 427-1 vote, sending it to the US Senate which unanimously agreed to pass the bill, setting the stage for the bill to go to Trump for his signature.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer asked the Senate to pass the bill which was just approved by the House in order to release the files related to Jeffrey Epstein. No senator objected to Schumer’s call which means the Senate adopted the bill with a unanimous vote and it will not have to take any further action, and the bill will be forwarded to President Trump’s desk as soon as it arrives from the House.
A White House official said on Tuesday that Trump has yet not decided when he would sign the bill forcing the Justice Department to release the Epstein files, as he said that the administration is still waiting for the bill to come from the Congress, CNN reported.
Due to the arrival of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House on Tuesday, Trump’s schedule is packed with several lineups. The aides plan to give option to Trump to either sign it on Tuesday night or on Wednesday morning, as the president has already announced that he would sign the measure.
