US election heading towards photo finish as Trump, Harris narrow leads in swing states

The national polling average on November 3 by the New York Times showed Kamala Harris at 49% with a bleak one point lead over Donald Trump who is right behind at 48%.

With hours to go for the US presidential election, the leads of Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump have narrowed down with a neck-to-neck competition and chances of a photo finish.

According to a new poll conducted by the New York Times/Siena College, the seven swing states could hold the key to the final results and the poll’s outcome reflects a tight race in the November 5 election. The seven swing states are: Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona.

The poll suggests that Democratic Party led by Kamala Harris is maintaining a lead with 49% compared to Republican candidate Trump’s 46% in Nevada state. In North Carolina, Harris leads with 48% while Trump is two points behind at 46%. Harris remained ahead in Wisconsin with 49% while Trump was trailing at 47%.

The neck to neck race appears in Georgia where Harris, 48% support, leads by a narrow margin of one point against Trump’s 47%. In Pennsylvania, the outcome stood tied at 48% for both Democratic and Republican parties. Even in Michigan, the poll showed a tie between Harris and Trump at 47%. But in Arizona, Trump is maintaining a healthy lead with 49% and Harris at 45%.

The New York Times/Siena College polls took place between October 24 to November 2 and featured 1,010 voters in Nevada, 1,305 voters in Wisconsin, 1,010 voters in North Carolina, 1,004 voters in Georgia, 1,527 voters in Pennsylvania, 998 voters in Michigan and 1,025 voters in Arizona.

Meanwhile, the national polling average on November 3 by the New York Times showed Kamala Harris at 49% with a bleak one point lead over Donald Trump who is right behind at 48%. Either party requires 270 electoral votes to win the race to the White House.
