Kate, the Princess of Wales, announced on Tuesday that her cancer is now in remission, less than a year after revealing her diagnosis.
The 43-year-old princess shared the update in a statement on X, expressing relief at being in remission and remaining focused on her recovery. “It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on recovery,” she wrote.
“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she added.
Kate first announced her diagnosis in March, revealing she would undergo chemotherapy. Since then, she has kept further details of her diagnosis and treatment private.
In September, she shared that she had completed her chemotherapy and was focused on staying “cancer-free” and returning to her duties.
Kate, 43, also visited the London hospital where she received treatment for cancer on Tuesday to personally thank medics for their care and support, her office said.
On her first solo trip since resuming official duties, Kate visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in central London. During the visit, she met with patients and staff, speaking about the care she had received at the hospital.
The trip also marked the announcement that Kate has become joint patron of the specialist cancer unit, alongside her husband, Prince William, the heir to the throne.
She told one patient the impact on her family had been “really, really tough”.
“The princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said.
In deeply personal video messages, Kate has shared the emotional toll her illness took on her, William, and their three young children—Princess Charlotte, 9, and Princes George, 11, and Louis, 6.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Kate shared in an update marking the end of her chemotherapy.
The royal family faced a traumatic year in 2024, with King Charles also undergoing cancer treatment. A source from Buckingham Palace has confirmed that his treatment is progressing positively and will continue into this year.
