The first major US elections since President Donald Trump returned to the White House for his second tenure has brought a shocker for the ruling Republicans as Democrats have registered a massive victory in November 4 elections across different races, including Democrat candidate Zohran Mamdani winning the New York City mayoral elections and becoming the youngest mayor of the city.
However, President Trump has given an explanation as to why the Republicans lost in several races across the United States on November 4. The US president said that since he wasn’t on the ballot and that the US federal government is experiencing one of its longest shutdown, his party lost the first major polls this year.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT, according to Pollsters.”
Thereafter the White House in a cryptic post soon after almost all the US elections were called, posted a logo of Knicks with Trump’s message saying, “TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT”. The post is being seen as the possible actions that the Trump administration could take after Mamdani won the New York mayoral polls, including restricting funds for New York City.
Trump had earlier warned the voters against polling for Democrats and wrote, “A vote for the Democrats is a DEATH WISH! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!”
The US president had earlier warned the voters of Virginia and New Jersey, where citizens were electing a new governor, and wrote: “Virginia and New Jersey, remember this: A vote for a Republican means substantially lower energy prices, a vote for a Democrat, especially these two losers who are running, means a doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling of your energy costs.”
Over 2 million New Yorkers cast their ballot on Tuesday, creating the largest turnout in a mayoral race in more than 50 years, according to the city’s Board of Elections, AP reported.
