US President Donald Trump chaired a policy meeting in Washington on Wednesday about plans for a post-war Gaza alongside former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and president’s former Middle East envoy Jared Kushner, a White House official said, reported Reuters.

Trump, top White House officials, Blair and Kushner were discussing issues pertaining to the Gaza war including escalating food aid deliveries, the hostage crisis, post-war plans among others, the official added.

Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff had earlier said that America is putting forward a “very comprehensive” plan on “the next day” after the war. However, details related to the post-war Gaza plan have not been disclosed.

“It is a very comprehensive plan we are putting together on the next day (in Gaza) and many people are going to see how robust it is and how well meaning it is and it reflects President Trump’s humanitarian motives here,” Witkoff told Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier” on Tuesday.

The White House official described the Wednesday meeting as “simply a policy meeting”, which the president and his officials frequently hold.

Kushner is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka and had been Middle East envoy during Trump’s first tenure, while Blair was the prime minister of the UK during the 2003 Iraq war and has been active on Middle East issues.

Amid the meeting in Washington, when Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar was asked about the plans for a Palestinian state by reporters, he said there wouldn’t be any.

During his presidential campaign last year, Trump had promised a quick end to the Israel-Gaza war after he returned to office but a resolution has been far away with seven months into his second term.

“President Trump has been clear that he wants the war to end, and he wants peace and prosperity for everyone in the region. The White House has nothing additional to share on the meeting at this time,” another White House official was quoted as saying by Reuters.
