Tesla electric car crashes, bursts into flames killing 4 in France

Quoting local police spokesman Lt. Eric Hoarau, news agency Associated Press said, “Everything suggests (the vehicle) came off the road.” Marks on the road and a road sign were cut down by the vehicle, and an investigation was underway related to the incident, added the police spokesman.

Police spokesman Hoarau further said that there weren’t any witnesses of the accident and the face of the victims, including the driver and three passengers, were burnt beyond recognition. He also said that the victims were dead when the authorities reached the accident site.

Tesla did not issue any statement on the matter and neither did its owner billionaire Elon Musk post anything related to the incident on his social media platform X.

According to the initial reports, the vehicle which was at high speed rammed into multiple road sign boards before coming to a halt many yards from where it veered off, reported local newspaper Western Courier.

The newspaper, citing police, said the driver was a 65-year-old man from Niort.
