American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift endorsed United States Vice President Kamala Harris, minutes after the high stakes presidential debate between Harris and former US president Donald Trump concluded on Tuesday night.

Taking to Instagram, Swift wrote: “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Endorsing her support for Walz, Swift said: “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

The debate, which was hosted by ABC News, started at 9 pm EST (6.30 am IST), and ran approximately 90 minutes, saw both candidates come down heavily on each other over economy of the country, abortion rights, Israel-Gaza and Russia-Ukraine wars, and immigration laws.
