Nobel Prize Winners in Chemistry 2025: Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar M. Yaghi have been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for pioneering the development of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on Tuesday.
“Through the development of metal–organic frameworks, 2025 chemistry laureates Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar Yaghi have provided chemists with new opportunities for solving some of the challenges we face,” the committee said.
The trio will share the prize sum of 11 million Swedish crowns (around $1.2 million).
The Nobel Prizes, founded in the will of Alfred Nobel, have honoured excellence in science, literature, and peace since 1901, with economics added later.
The Nobel week continues with peace prize on Friday. Laureates will receive their medals from the Swedish king at a December 10 ceremony in Stockholm, marking the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.
