Israeli forces struck the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Thursday, the Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported, Reuters reported. The broadcaster did not provide further details on the attack.

This comes after Houthis on Wednesday launched a drone attack on Israel’s Eilat, wounding 22 people. The Houthi rebel group has been launching missiles and drones toward Israel, describing the attacks as acts of solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

The Houthis have also targeted vessels in the Red Sea since the war in Gaza began.

Controlling Sanaa and north-western Yemen, the group considers Israel an enemy but does not represent the country’s internationally recognised government.

Israel has retaliated with airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas, including the Red Sea port of Hudaydah.

Earlier in September, the Houthi-run health ministry reported 35 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Sanaa and al-Jawf province.

In August, the group said its self-proclaimed Prime Minister, Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi, was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
