‘Hamas will no longer rule Gaza,’ Netanyahu after Yahya Sinwar killed in Gaza operation

In a televised address, the Israeli PM, however, asserted that the war was still not over.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar presents an opportunity for peace in the Middle East but stressed that the conflict in Gaza is far from over.

Netanyahu said that the killing of Sinwar marks “the beginning of the day after Hamas.”

“Today, we have shown that anyone who attempts to harm us will face the consequences. This is how the forces of good will always prevail over the forces of evil and darkness,” said Netanyahu. He acknowledged that the war remains ongoing and costly, urging the nation to stay strong.

“Hamas will no longer rule Gaza,” Netanyahu promises in a video statement. “This is the beginning of the day after Hamas, and this is an opportunity for you, the residents of Gaza, to finally break free from its tyranny.”

Addressing the people of Israel, Netanyahu emphasised, “There are still many challenges ahead of us. We must remain resilient, stand firm, and continue the fight.”

“To the families of the hostages, I say: this is a significant moment in the war. We will press on with full force until all your loved ones, our loved ones, are brought home.”
