Ceasefire alone won’t end Ukraine war: Russia 

The comments were made during a Security Council meeting held on Friday.

Russia has told the United Nations Security Council that stopping the war in Ukraine is not enough to end the conflict that began more than three years ago.

“To achieve a sustainable and lasting settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, we need to address its root causes,” said Russia’s UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia, according to Reuters.

Nebenzia said Moscow is proposing a new round of talks in Istanbul on Monday. “What we’re proposing is a second round of talks in Istanbul this coming Monday… where we can exchange memoranda about both parties’ approaches to the negotiations process,” he said.
