King Charles faced shouted questions about his brother Prince Andrew’s links to Jeffrey Epstein during a visit to Lichfield Cathedral on Monday, Reuters reported.

A protester called out: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?” as Charles greeted crowds outside the cathedral in northwest England, near Birmingham, according to Reuters.

The king did not respond and continued talking with members of the public.

Prince Andrew, 65, said earlier this month he would stop using his Duke of York title after renewed scrutiny over his past friendship with Epstein, Reuters said.

The attention has increased again following the release of a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre. She had accused Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. Andrew has always denied her claims.

In 2022, Andrew reached an undisclosed settlement with Giuffre to end a civil case in the United States, Reuters noted. Giuffre died by suicide in April this year.

British police are reviewing media reports that Andrew asked one of his protection officers in 2011 to search for damaging information about Giuffre, Reuters added.

The same protester also shouted: “Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew? … Should MPs be allowed to debate the royals in the House of Commons?” Reuters reported. Charles did not engage and walked on.
