International Women’s Day 2025 in India: International Women’s Day (IWD) is commemorated globally on March 8 each year. This day serves to raise awareness about women’s rights and to celebrate the cultural, political, and socio-economic accomplishments of women.
It also acts as a clarion call to intensify efforts towards achieving gender equality and to spotlight ongoing advocacy initiatives worldwide. The global theme for 2025 is “Accelerate Action,” underscoring the urgency and importance of prompt measures to promote gender parity.
For International Women’s Day 2025, which falls on a Saturday, the Government of India has designated this as a national event.
The Women and Child Development (WCD) Minister, Annapurna Devi, recently announced the theme ‘Viksit Bharat with Nari Shakti,’ reflecting the country’s goal to shift from women’s development to women-led development while ensuring equal participation in the progress of the nation.
The WCD Ministry emphasized the importance of International Women’s Day as a worldwide platform to acknowledge women’s achievements across various dimensions, including national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, and political spheres.
