2023 has been a busy year for smartphones. Despite a slowdown in sales of smartphones, brands continue to launch new devices to lure new users. Over the past few months, we have already seen big launches from the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi but there’s plenty more to come throughout the year. As major phone players including Nothing and Motorola get close to releasing new models this summer, we take a look at the upcoming smartphones ready to hit retail shelves sooner than expected.
Samsung has made a name for itself in the world of foldable, and the company is now gearing up for the launch of its next flagship foldable, the Z Fold 5 at the next Unpacked event happening in late July. Rumours indicate Samsung’s next foldable, expected to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 5, will be a minor update to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The next version of the Galaxy Z Fold is expected to have some design refinements and other improvements. Among the biggest changes is expected to be a redesigned hinge that should reduce the device’s thickness. Other improvements include a revamped OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and an improved under-display selfie camera. Though, don’t expect the Z Fold 5 to be any lighter on your wallet anytime soon.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be Samsung’s clamshell-style foldable of 2023. According to reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to get a large cover display and the rest of the form factor is likely to remain similar to the current Galaxy Z Flip 4. Just like Fold 5, the Flip 5 is also said to be based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with at least 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The flip-style foldable phones have been super popular among consumers, thanks to their compact design and lower price tag.
The Phone (2) is another highly anticipated phone launching soon in India. It is confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The brand has also said that the Phone (2) will boot Nothing OS (2) and will pack an improved Glyph lighting at the back and the smartphone is also speculated to pack a new and improved dual-camera system at the back.
Motorola has confirmed to launch of the Razr 40 and the Razr 40 Ultra in India and the devices will be available exclusively on Amazon. These two foldable from Motorola come with a new design, and the more expensive Razr 40 Ultra also packs the biggest 3.6-inch pOLED cover display on a flip-style foldable and it is also said to be the thinnest flip phone in the world.
The iQOO Neo 7 Pro is confirmed to launch on July 4. According to the company, the Neo 7 Pro is a dual-chip phone, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and an independent gaming chip. The smartphone is also confirmed to feature a 120Hz display with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Lastly, the phone will feature an orange-coloured faux leather back panel and will run on FunTouchOS. The iQOO Neo 7 is speculated to be one of the most affordable Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC-based phones in India.
