Samsung, in collaboration with the AI startup Perplexity, has launched the Perplexity TV app. The South Korean tech giant said that the new app offers an “innovative AI-powered experience” to help users discover new content. In a press release, Samsung said that the new Perplexity TV app broadens its Vision AI platform, which transforms large screen devices like TVs “into hubs of smart solutions that elevate your everyday life.”
To give you a quick recap, Perplexity is an AI-powered search engine that fetches information from credible sources on the internet to answer your questions in real-time. The Perplexity TV app will function as a standalone AI Agent within Samsung’s Vision AI ecosystem and will enable users to ask complex questions and get accurate, visual answers without having to switch to other devices.
It also lets users get movie recommendations that suit their personal preferences or show information about interesting TV shows. The AI-powered search engine can also be used for other things, like planning a trip, getting sports results, and even getting financial information about companies you follow or have invested in.
Perplexity TV is currently available on smart monitors and TVs launched this year. It includes the 2025 QLED TVs, The Frame and The Frame Pro, Neo QLED TVs, Micro RGB TVs, Smart Monitor M7, and the Smart Monitor M8.
1. Samsung also said that the Perplexity TV app will be coming to smart monitors and TVs launched in 2023 and 2024 sometime later this year with an OS update.
2. To install Perplexity on your smart TV, head over to the Apps tab on the home screen and find the app. Accept the terms and conditions and give it microphone access.
3. Now, launch the app from the home screen and you will be able to use it via voice commands, Galaxy phone’s on-screen keyboard or a physical keyboard connected to your TV.
As a bonus, Samsung is also giving away a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription to all TV owners, which they can claim by simply scanning the QR code on the Perplexity TV app.
