Samsung launched a new speaker on Wednesday that doubles as a photo frame. The device, dubbed Music Frame, can be operated as a standalone speaker or paired with a Samsung TV. It was launched at Samsung’s Unbox and Discover event in Bengaluru. The Music Frame will cost Rs 23,990, but Samsung has yet to announce the exact availability of the device. However, those who pre-order select Neo QLED 4K/8K and OLED 4K smart TVs can receive the Music Frame as a complementary unit.
The Music Frame was first introduced at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. The device is a speaker with a screen that can display digital art and pictures, and multiple Music Frame devices can be combined to create a stereo effect. While it doesn’t come with a remote control of its own, Samsung TV users can use the same remote to control the Music Frame.
It features three speakers and a waveguide to spread the sound across the room. Plus, using Q-Symphony technology, the speaker can be paired with select Samsung smart TVs to play audio on both devices simultaneously, without muting one. The speaker can also scan and measure the surroundings using SpaceFit Sound Pro technology to offer optimised audio quality.
This tiny device is equipped with six speakers and is compatible with technologies like Atmos Music, Atmos, and Dolby Digital Plus, capable of producing up to 120W of sound. The Music Frame can be connected to a smartphone or a smart TV using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It also supports optical-in connectivity. The speaker is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa, and is also compatible with Apple AirPlay.
The Music Frame can also act as a SmartThings hub with a SmartThings USB dongle, enabling it to control and monitor various Samsung smart home devices.
