Samsung has bumped up the price of the Galaxy S24 by Rs 5,000 when compared to the Galaxy S23, which now starts at Rs 79,999. However, with the price cut, the smartphone now offers double the storage (256 GB) on the base variant. Both smartphones can be purchased at a much lower price by availing bank offers and additional discounts.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 had a 6.1-inch FHD+ screen, which has been updated to a 6.2-inch display on the Galaxy S24, thanks to thinner bezels across the screen. Not just that, the Galaxy S24 now offers a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, which was limited to 48Hz to 120Hz on the Galaxy S23. Lastly, the Galaxy S24 also gets a brighter display, which can now offer up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. The display on both smartphones is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The Galaxy S24, just like the Galaxy S23 has a metal frame and a glass sandwich design. However, it is now made out of a more durable “Armor Aluminum Frame” using lightweight space-grade aluminium, which makes it a gram lighter than the Galaxy S23 with a weight of 167 grams. Both phones are IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
Unlike the Galaxy S23, which was based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the new Galaxy S24 is powered by the Exynos 2400 deca-core (10 CPU cores) processor with 8 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of internal storage, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is limited to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As of now, there is no clarity on the exact performance capabilities of the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24.
However, the new chip does enable various AI features on the Galaxy S24 such as live call translation and transcription, AI-backed photo and video editing, Circle to Search, and more, and some of these features will be added to the Galaxy S23 via a software update.
Both phones have a triple camera setup at the back with a 12 MP ultra-wide angle lens, 50 MP wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP 3x telephoto lens. The selfie camera on the Galaxy S24 gets an upgrade, which now includes a 12 MP sensor. Besides, the Galaxy S24, despite having an identical camera setup, offers more software-based camera features.
One more difference between the two devices is the battery, where, the Galaxy S24 now has a 4,000 mAh battery while the Galaxy S23 has a 3,900 mAh battery. Both phones support up to 45W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
