Oppo’s latest flip-style foldable, the Find N3, is finally here, and with its asking price of Rs 94,999, it rivals the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, one of the best flip-style foldables on the market. While there is definitely a market shift towards compact folding phones, there aren’t many that are as versatile as Oppo and Samsung’s offerings. If you are in the market for a premium flip-style foldable phone, our comparison between the Find N3 Flip (review) and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 (review) should help you find the one that suits your needs.
Design is a subjective matter, and despite sharing a similar form factor, these are two completely different-looking phones. While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a large cover display, the new vertical cover screen on the Find N3 Flip gives the Oppo smartphone a unique character. However, with the IPX8 rating, the Z Flip 5 is clearly a more rugged flip phone than the Find N3 Flip. On top of that, the Find N3 Flip has an alert slide, a feature that has been borrowed from the sister company OnePlus.
The Oppo Find N3 Flip has a slightly larger 6.8-inch screen, while the Z Flip 5 has a smaller but sensible 6.7-inch screen. Both offer up to a 120Hz refresh rate, and the Z Flip 5 has a slightly sharper display with a higher pixel density per inch and also a higher peak brightness of 1,750 nits. While these differences might look massive on paper, in the real world, both phones will offer a similar experience; however, the Z Flip 5 might have a slight advantage when using the device under direct sunlight.
Hardware-wise, the Oppo Find N3 Flip has a clear advantage over the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Find N3 Flip not only has higher-resolution sensors, but it also packs a dedicated 32 MP telephoto lens, and the whole triple camera setup is tuned by Hasselblad. If we go by previous smartphones with the Hasselblad camera, the Find N3 Flip will definitely be a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to camera performance.
These phones are built on two completely different chipsets. While Samsung’s offering ships with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, Oppo opts for the MediaTek Dimensity 9200. In terms of benchmark figures, the Z Flip 5 has a clear margin; however, real-world usage will be almost similar. As for the software, the Find N3 Flip ships with custom ColorOS 13 based on Android 13, and the Z Flip 5 runs on OneUI 5 with Android 13 as the base. Both phones are also confirmed to receive four years of OS updates and five years of security updates.
The Oppo Find N3 Flip not only has a large 4,300 mAh battery, but it also supports faster charging with up to 44W. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a respectable 3,700 mAh battery with support for up to 44W fast charging. The combination of a bigger battery and fast charging solution makes the Oppo Find N3 Flip a clear battery champ
The Oppo Find N3 Flip clearly has a larger battery, a better camera system, and a newer design at a slightly lower price. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 offers a premium build, an improved software experience, and a slightly more compact form factor. If you are looking for a camera-first flip phone, then go for the Find N3 Flip; for a performance-oriented requirement, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes out to be a better deal.
