Ahead of WWDC 2023, Apple announced new concert discovery features for Apple Music and Apple Maps. The company says the new features ‘give fans and artists more ways to connect.’
Starting today, Apple Maps users will find more than 40 Guides curated by Apple Music editors that feature some of the best venues to experience live music across the world. Apple Music Guides sorts upcoming shows based on locations and let users check relevant information directly from Maps using Shazam’s concert discovery module.
Last year, Shazam introduced a suite of features that leverages concert information from the popular event recommendation and artist discovery platform ‘Bandsintown’.
If you use Apple Music, the new ‘Set Lists’ feature gives information about major tours and lets users listen to set lists for specific shows and read information about show production. Users will also be able to browse upcoming shows by various artists in their area.
The new concert discovery features are currently available in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, San Francisco, Berlin, London, Paris, Vienna, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Mexico City.
Earlier this year, Apple launched the Apple Classic Music app which is designed to handle the complex metadata of classical music albums and recordings and is available to Apple Music subscribers for free.
