Samsung’s upcoming flagship series – the Galaxy S24 might feature both Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will reportedly stick to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and won’t have an Exynos variant.

According to a report by the South Korean publication The Elec, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will be powered by Exynos 2400 in the global market while the North American variant will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which Qualcomm is expected to unveil at the Snapdragon Summit on October 24.

The publication also claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will exclusively be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, taking into consideration the company’s relationship with Qualcomm.

In 2022, when Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series, the company received negative feedback after customers reported heating and performance issues with the Exynos 2200 chipset, following which the South Korean phone maker ditched its own chips in favour of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the Galaxy S23 lineup.

This might be another reason why Samsung may be going with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra in all markets. The move might also push customers to pay more and go with the Snapdragon variant since Exynos is not so popular right now.

Samsung recently unveiled its latest in-house developed Exynos 2400 at its SLSI Tech Day event. While the company did not share the chip core layout or clock speed, the Exynos 2400 will feature a 10-core processor and GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. The new chipset brings significant performance improvements, claiming the Exynos 2400 offers 70 per cent more CPU performance and 14.7x faster AI processing compared to its predecessor.
