Samsung announced a new limited edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Inspired by the tech giant’s first phone with a built-in antenna – SGH-E700, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro features the same pixel clock graphics on the outer display and even has the same colour as the feature phone.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro also retains the SGH-E700’s indigo blue and silver colours and comes with an exclusive retro styled cityscape animation that reminds of the early 2000s. Samsung has also included 3 Flipsuit cards in the box which have different logos from different era’s of the company’s history. You also get a Flipsuit case and a collector card with an unique serial number.
Samsung launched the SGH-E700 20 years ago in 2003. It sold more than 10 million units, making it one of the best selling phones by the company at the time. The feature phone sported a premium design and an external OLED colour screen that allowed users to take selfies using the front camera.
To give you a quick recap, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in August this year at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the IPX8 water resistant phone comes with a 120Hz 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED screen and an outer 3.4-inch sAMOLED screen.
Samsung’s latest flip style phone runs on Android 13 out of the box with OneUI on top and has a dual camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. It has a 3,700mAh battery that supports 25W charging and starts from Rs 99,999.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro edition will be available in limited quantities and go on sale in the United States, Australia, Korea, United Kingdom, Germany and Spain from November 1 while those living in France will have to wait till November 2. It will be available for purchase from Samsung’s official website. However, Samsung is yet to reveal the price of the the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro edition
