HMD Global is gearing up to launch three new smartphones on December 5 in Dubai. The company’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas posted a ‘save the date’ invite on Twitter with the caption, “#ExpectMore”. Though he did not reveal which smartphones are going to be launched on this date, the invite image has outlines of three devices – two with notch and one without notch. This suggests Nokia 9, which is rumoured to sport a notchless display could be unveiled at the event alongside Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 2.1 Plus.
Nokia 9, the company’s upcoming flagship is speculated to sport feature a five-camera setup, first on any smartphone. It could also be the first phone to come with PureView branding. Earlier this week, @OnLeaks and 91mobiles posted on Twitter 5K image renders and a 360-degree video of Nokia 9, which shows off five rear cameras with Zeiss branding. The configuration is expected to consist of a telephoto lens, a wide-angle lens, and a depth-sensing camera, besides other cameras.
Though there will be no notch, the display could have visible bezels on all sides and a a noticeable chin. In terms of specifications, Nokia 9 PureView will likely have a 5.8-inch QHD display with 18:9 screen aspect ratio. The phone will run Android Pie out of the box. It could be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other expected features include 4150mAh battery as well as in-display fingerprint sensor in addition to Face Unlock feature.
Nokia 8.1, which is rumoured to be global variant of Nokia X7 that was launched in China last month, is also expected to make its debut on December 5. The phone will be launched in India on November 28, claims a report in 91mobiles and will be priced at Rs 23,999.
Nokia 8.1 is expected to be a premium mid-range smartphone, which will likely be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon processor coupled with 4GB RAM. The phone will run Android 9 Pie out of the box. It could feature a 6.18-inch FHD+ display with PureDisplay technology and screen aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The rear cameras are expected to be 13MP+12MP, while front camera will be 24MP.
