Motorola has teased the launch of its first Ultra-branded smartphone in China, which will be called the Moto X50 Ultra. In a Weibo post, the company is calling this an AI smartphone and the device is likely to offer Galaxy S24-like generative AI features. The smartphone could launch in April.
The teaser post of the Moto X50 Ultra includes a picture of the Lenovo-sponsored F1 race car, indicating the fast performance and features of the device. The teaser was dropped just a day before the commencement of the 2024 season of the Formula 1 race in Bahrain.
The Moto X50 Ultra will first launch in China, and the same is expected to be introduced under the Moto Edge moniker in international markets. The official teaser reveals the design of the smartphone, and the device is almost confirmed to feature a curved back panel with a large camera island on the top left side. It also looks like the back panel of the phone is made using vegan leather, which should reduce the device’s weight. The rear side features the Motorola logo.
In terms of hardware, the Moto X50 Ultra is likely to be powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, two flagship processors with a dedicated AI processing unit that can natively run large language models.
The leaks also highlight that the smartphone could be fueled by a 4,500 mAh battery with support for 125W fast wired charging, making it the fastest-charging Moto phone in the market and it is also touted to offer 50W wireless charging support.
