Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event is just a week away, and the iPhone 16 lineup, expected to be unveiled at the event, is rumoured to include four different models, similar to the current iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is set to be this year’s flagship smartphone from Apple.
Early renders of the iPhone 16 Pro Max dummy, along with leaks and speculations, suggest that it may closely resemble the iPhone 15 Pro Max in design. However, a closer look at the details in these reports indicates that the upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feel significant.

With its 6.7-inch screen, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently one of the biggest iPhones Apple has ever made. The 16 Pro Max will go a step further, featuring a 6.9-inch screen with narrow bezels. Those who wished for a bigger phone would be happy with this, but those happy with the in-hand feel of the 15 Pro Max, the new phone will feel a bit stretched. Also, with a case, the 16 Pro Max might feel even larger.
Gamers and those who consume a lot of digital content may appreciate the bigger screen. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also speculated to incorporate the biggest battery ever used in an iPhone, potentially offering longer battery life.
The introduction of the titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro series resulted in a matte finish. Many users felt this lacked the luxury of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Hence, Apple is reportedly working on bringing back a glossy finish while retaining the titanium build for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to prominent leaker Majin Bu, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be available in new colour options, including a desert titanium shade, helping it stand out.
Despite Apple retaining the same industrial design for the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s camera island, leaks hint at upgraded camera hardware, including a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera for capturing expansive, high-resolution photos. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumoured to feature a new capture button, making it a better camera phone than the 15 Pro Max.
All the Apple Intelligence features available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be coming to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but not the other way around. During the launch, Apple is expected to introduce new AI features, which will remain exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip, possibly paired with at least 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The new A18 Pro chip also means the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be better at handling AAA gaming and extreme multitasking.
With whatever we know so far about the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it looks like a comprehensive upgrade over its predecessor. However, these differences will only make a difference for select users, and most users, who already have an iPhone 15 Pro Max (review) will not miss anything major.
