According to MacRumors, the affected iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices display a black screen with a ‘spinning wheel’. Apple is said to be working with GasBuddy to fix the issue that begun “sometime after October 18,” as per the report.

In case if a customer reports about the issue, the Apple Store employees are instructed to perform a hard reset of iPhones that ‘exhibit’ the unresponsive behaviour and ask the customer to ‘uninstall’ the GasBuddy app. If the issue persists, employees will follow with Apple’s standard service procedure, the report cited.

For those unaware, GasBuddy is a popular app that relies on crowd-sourced information to help users locate gas stations with the ‘lowest-priced’ gas in the US, Australia and Canada. The developer in a tweet post mentioned that they are aware that some people are facing the issue with the iOS and they are ‘rapidly preparing’ an update to fix it.

As per MacRumors, GasBuddy has issued a statement saying, “On Friday (October 19), Apple approved the latest version of the GasBuddy app. This was subsequent to our app going through Apple’s typical, thorough review process that, as you know, Apple requires before releasing any app into its store. We absolutely regret any association with a poor user experience. We are committed to doing our part to address this quickly and completely.”
