3D monitors have been around for a while, but they haven’t picked up as much as other high-end monitors due to the need for additional glasses. Samsung seems to have found a solution for this issue with its latest gaming monitor––the Odyssey 3D––a glass-free, high-end 3D monitor similar to the Acer Predator SpatialLabs 3D gaming monitor.
Samsung hasn’t unveiled how much the Odyssey 3D will cost, but considering the price of Acer’s 3D gaming monitor––$1,999 (Rs 1,67,809, approximately)––it definitely won’t be cheap.
The Odyssey 3D will be available in two sizes, 27 inches and 37 inches. Samsung’s first glass-free 3D monitor can also convert regular 2D content into 3D combining the light field display (LFD) technology with view mapping and eye-tracking technology, which is powered by a built-in stereo camera setup that automatically adjusts the image to enhance depth perception, and thereby, delivering an immersive 3D experience.
The monitor also boasts impressive specs found in premium gaming monitors, including a native 4K QLED panel, 1ms grey-to-grey (GTG) response time, and up to a 165Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for both gaming and content consumption.
Unlike traditional 3D monitors that require glasses, the Odyssey 3D’s depth effect is visible to only one user at a time. For connectivity, it includes DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports, ensuring compatibility with modern consoles and high-end gaming PCs. It also supports AMD FreeSync for a smoother, lag-free gaming experience.
