Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced Reliance Jio’s 4G data plans which start as low as Rs 50 for 1GB. One of the better takeaways from his speech is that the Reliance JioFi device now costs Rs 900 less. The portable WiFi hotspot that comes with Jio 4G preview offer free was initially priced at Rs 2,899. It is already listed at Rs 1,999 on the company’s website now. “Experience high-speed data with JioFi device and Jio SIM. Unlimited for 90 days,” says the site.
The Reliance JioFi device now becomes more affordable and is one of the cheapest ways to access free data at the moment. The JioFi device is backed by a 2,300 mAh battery and comes with Reliance Jio SIM card. Users can walk into a Reliance Digital or Digital Xpress Mini store, submit the required documents and get Jio 4G SIM card. The device supports LTE bands 2300/1800/850MHz and for WLAN: IEEE 802.11b/g/n 2.4G. The Reliance JioFi device can connect up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices at a time. Also, users can connect another device through JioFi’s USB slot.
In our review we said JioFi seems a more practical device for or everyone looking forward to the Reliance Jio service for high-speed data. The speed tests revealed that download speeds touched 30Mbps and it only took us close to an hour to download a Minecraft file from Download.com with the speeds crawling at under 20KB/s.

Reliance Jio 4G services were officially launched today. The company is offering free voice calls to all Jio customers forever. Also, users will not be charged for roaming in India. Ambani says Reliance 4G data plans are cheapest in the world with at 5 paise per MB. It announced 10 data packs, starting at Rs 149 for 0.3GB and going all the way up to Rs 4,999 for 75GB. Also, students will get 25 per cent more data on Jio’s main tariffs.

Reliance JioFi device is portable and its dimensions are 85.0 x 55.0 x 16.0mm. The device features a USB port, a mini SIM card interface and a Micro SD card interface. The JioFi device is claimed to provide six hours of battery life when charged to the fullest. In our case, the battery on JioFi device lasted for an entire day with active usage. It charges up within an hour. The Reliance JioFi device features a LED indicator to give users an idea of the battery levels.
