
Popular online graphic design platform, Canva, has introduced a suite of new products and features aimed at transforming how users design at work. The platform has introduced Dream Lab and announced significant updates to its Visual Suite. The announcement comes at a time when the company reached a milestone of 200 million monthly active users and the company also achieved $2.5 billion in annualised revenue.
The new set of innovations includes powerful new generative AI technology from Leonardo.ai that offers some great possibilities to make work more productive, smarter, and better collaboration. The company has also launched Dream Lab that enables teams across industries and professions to unlock new avenues of creativity, design with precision, and enhance efficiency at work.
Dream Lab is a powerful generative AI tool that transforms text descriptions into dynamic images. The tool uses Leonardo.AI’s advanced Phoenix model and provides over 15 varied styles like 3D renders and illustrations, while allowing users to reference their existing images for precise outputs. Dream Lab is integrated with Canva’s Magic Studio and supports various creative tasks, from creating marketing assets to storyboards. Besides, the tool offers safety via Canva Shield which promotes responsible use of AI. Backed by Canva’s vast content library, Dream Lab offers extensive creative options for designers, educators, and entrepreneurs.
On the other hand, Canva has introduced a slew of upgrades to its Visual Suite which includes Whiteboards, Websites, Docs, Presentations, Videos, etc. Ever since Canva Create was launched two years ago, users have created as many as 2.5 billion presentations, 1.5 billion videos, 500 million documents, around 80 million websites, and 240 million whiteboards. According to Canva, Whiteboards are now the fastest-growing product as their usage has doubled this year. The company said that the tools enable seamless collaboration and creativity allowing thousands of projects to be made every minute across the suite.
Canva has also introduced a wide range of new and upcoming features based on community feedback. The key upgrades include Whiteboards with AI-powered sorting, real-time interactive voting via ‘Reaction Stickies,’ summarising etc. The Magic Write feature now comes with enhanced contextual text generation and one-click refinements. Video tools have also gained advanced animation and auto-generated captions. The presentation feature gets new chart types, one-click page numbers, and animations. Expanded data storytelling comes with Area, Radar, Hierarchy, and Statistical Charts. Polls and quizzes can now be built directly in the editor.
Besides, Canva now integrates seamlessly with Google Workspace, enabling collaborative access through Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and Docs.
At present, Canva is experiencing massive growth with over 30 billion designs being created to date. Users are creating over 300 new designs every second. The company claims that users from across 190 countries have created over 2.5 billion presentations and 500 million documents. Moreover, Canva’s AI tools have also seen a significant spike in users with over 10 billion recorded to date.
