Alcaraz vs Sinner US Open Final 2025 Tennis Highlights: Carlos Alcaraz just dropped one set in the entire US Open as he defeated Jannik Sinner 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4 to clinch the title on Sunday. This was their 3rd Grand Slam final meeting with the last two major clashes being at Wimbledon and French Open respectively with the Spaniard winning the clay court match while the Italian clinched the grass court encounter.

Right from the beginning under a closed roof because of rain earlier in the day, No. 2 Alcaraz was better as he sought to reverse the result from when they met at the All England Club less than two months ago.

He did just that, putting his leads over Sinner at 10-5 in their head-to-head series, 6-4 in major trophies, and 2-1 in U.S. Open championships. Plus, this win allowed Alcaraz, a 22-year-old from Spain, to take away the No. 1 ranking from Sinner, a 24-year-old from Italy.

With one hand already on the trophy, nearly three hours into one of the biggest matches of his career, Jannik Sinner’s worst humiliation may well have played on his mind. US Open final LIVE: Why the 5 hr 29 min epic between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at French Open is momentous for men’s tennis

The greatest credit one can give to the Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner marathon at the French Open final on Sunday is that it simultaneously made us nostalgic about the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal-Novak Djokovic era of Grand Slam finales while reaffirming the tennis world that the future of the sport is in safe hands. It has been evident for some time now that Alcaraz vs Sinner is the rivalry that will define this era of men’s tennis. But until Sunday at Roland Garros, the two rising superstars hadn’t met in a Grand Slam final. And what’s more, neither had lost a Major final they had played in with Alcaraz 4/4 and Sinner 3/3. Sinner hadn’t won a match that lasted beyond 4 hours. Alcaraz hadn’t won a Major match after going down by two sets. Something had to give. And they gave the world a final to remember. (READ MORE)
