Who is MI’s Satyanarayana Raju, Andhra fast bowler who made IPL debut vs CSK?

IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians pacer Satyanarayana Raju grabbed eyeballs during the Andhra Premier League 2024 T20 tournament, picking eight wickets in eight matches for the Rayalaseema Kings.

With Jasprit Bumrah still unavailable due to injury, Mumbai Indians opened their IPL 2025 debut season by handing a debut to uncapped fast bowler Satyanarayana Raju against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chepauk on Sunday.

The 25-year-old medium pacer burst onto the scene last year when he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Andhra in January 2024. Raju has since appeared in seven FC matches, seven List A games and as many T20s. He has picked up seven wickets in as many T20s and was snapped up by MI at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction for INR 30 lakh.

Raju also grabbed eyeballs during the Andhra Premier League 2024 T20 tournament, picking eight wickets in eight matches for the Rayalaseema Kings. Raju played seven games for Andhra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 season, picking up seven wickets at an average of 26.85 and an economy of 8.23.

Raju first appeared with the bat at No. 11 for Mumbai, scoring one from the only delivery faced as his side finished on 155 for nine in 20 overs. Raju will form the Mumbai Indians seam attack alongwith seasoned stars Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar in the second innings.
