The best of RR vs CSK rivalry

Rajasthan Royals was the first team to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 under the leadership of former Australian spinner Shane Warne. Their opponent in the final of that edition? CSK. However, despite the initial stumble Chennai Super Kings went on to lifted the trophy three times over the years.

An IPL final to remember

(Rajasthan Royals 164/7 beat Chennai Super Kings 163/5 by three wickets)

Yusuf Pathan imposed himself on the biggest stage, taking three wickets before smashing a scintillating 56, to help the Shane Warne-led Rajasthan pull off a last-ball thriller.

I was very nervous, says Man of the Match Devdutt Padikkal

“I was very nervous upon hearing the news of making my debut. But when I came to bat I settled down after playing a few balls,” Padikkal told Chahal during an interaction after the match. “The last one month that we practiced, I learnt a lot from Virat bhaiya. I kept asking him questions whenever I was around him. Even today, when I was playing with Finch, he showed a lot of confidence in me,” he said.

Rajasthan Royals Season Preview

With promising youngsters in their ranks, including U-19 World Cuppers, Rajasthan will provide platform for breakthrough performances as has been the case in the past. If the exciting young home-grown players work in sync with their overseas superstars, it can end more than a decade of drought for the Rajasthan Royals. Kohli becomes Simranjeet on Twitter to honour Covid hero from Chandigarh

Chandigarh resident Simranjeet Singh (38), a hearing impaired senior assistant in the Punjab Home Guard Department, had raised more than Rs. 98,000 along with his friends for deaf and hearing impaired persons in May-June early this year and as RCB faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match of the IPL this season, Singh was cheering for Kohli at his Sector 63 home.

On Sunday, Kohli was seen wearing a jersey saying ‘My Covid Heroes’ during the practice session and Kohli will wear Simranjeet’s name on his jersey during one of the matches of the IPL this season. (READ MORE)

Limp in pain: Mitch Marsh

Mitchell Marsh was writhing in pain on the field. Twice. The first yelps of pain came on the field with the ball in his hand when he twisted his right ankle on the followthrough. He has had a history of ankle problems and surgeries and though the man whose nickname is bison tried to grit through his pain and bowl, he couldn’t. He had to hobble off.

Agony of guilt: Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow, whose imperious urge to hit another six had led to not just his dismissal but also triggered a collapse, was sitting in the dugout when he saw the youngster Priyam Garg get bowled, trying to play a lap shot. Hyderabad had slipped from 121 for 2 to 129 for 5 in space of 7 balls and the match was slipping out of their hands. Sitting in the dugout was Bairstow, sweat pouring off his forehead, eyes glued to the action in the middle and when he saw Garg lose his wicket, that sinking feeling hit Bairstow. He knew he had started the self-destruction and perhaps there was a bit of guilt in that shake of head.

Padikkal’s audacious smile

It was the first ball of the second over, and Padikkal not only charged out but also side-stepped outside leg stump to biff it over midwicket. He nodded his head to himself as he savoured the moment and flashed a triumphant smile, that you usually see in advertisements. It was a lovely little private moment, of a boy in the man’s world knowing he belongs out there. No one would have been surprised by his fifty on debut after watching him bat a few overs

Chahal emerges as RCB’s ‘match-turner’ against Hyderabad

A familiar defeat loomed when Jonny Bairstow was chewing into the seemingly inadequate target of 164, riding his bravado as much as good fortune. But two deliveries by Yuzvendra Chahal rewrote the script and destiny of the contest, which Bangalore nicked by 10 runs.

Chahal turned out to be Virat Kohli’s archangel. When Bairstow and Manish Pandey were strolling, with a 71-run stand, the leg-spinner induced doubt with the fizz and turn he purchased off the surface. Pandey’s tentativeness turned out to be contagious, as Chahal was dealt as if he were spewing fire. (READ MORE)

CSK overwhelming favourites

Royals would be missing their premier all-rounder Ben Stokes for an unspecified duration and opener Jos Buttler for at least opening game due to quarantine rules. The absence of Stokes would severely impact Royals’ campaign at least at the beginning because of the balance it lends to the side. But his father’s terminal illness has kept Stokes out of action for some time now and his absence, certainly in the first half of the league, would disturb the balance of the Royals, perennial underperformers.

RR vs CSK

Hello and welcome to the fourth day of IPL 2020 and CSK are already playing their second game of the season. They won the opening fixture against Mumbai Indians on Saturday and now aim to double their lead by taking on Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. Smith is confident that Royals will get off to a good start. “Chennai and Mumbai both have been two really strong teams for a long time now.
