MI’s captain Hardik Pandya won’t be playing in this match. After MI’s group-stage exit last year, Pandya was banned for the slow-over rate offense against the Lucknow Super Giants during the team’s last outing. It was the third time in 14 games that MI had failed to maintain the over-rates, resulting in the skipper’s ban.
Pandya said that he will have to miss the game with his teammate and India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav taking over the reins at Chepauk. “Surya will be the ideal choice when I am not there,” said Pandya.

Chepauk is traditionally known for its spin-friendly pitches. As the game progresses, the pitch tends to slow down, offering significant assistance to spinners. Dew can play a role in how the pitch behaves, especially in the later stages of the match.
Chennai is expected to experience thunderstorms during the day of the match, but these are predicted to clear before the game itself. While the possibility of a delayed start due to a wet outfield exists, a complete washout is considered unlikely. The match should proceed with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius
The clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will be telecasted on Star Sports and JioHotstar.
