FIH Hockey Pro League, India vs Spain Highlights: Sensational Sreejesh stars as India draw 2-2 and clinch shootout bonus

After 15 attempts without a miss, it is PR Sreejesh who makes the difference in the end. An incredible shootout with nutmegs, a perfect stroke, some good reverse hits and one brilliant save.

Racasens goes past a diving Sreejesh. It's 7-7 

Sukhjeet takes his time, again the ball seemed to go out of control, but he finds the shot in time. India 7-6. 

Bonastre now and thinks he has scored. India don't have a referral but the umpire wants to review. Goal, no back stick. It's 6-6. 

Harmanpreet now as the order changes, and he is fouled by the goalkeeper. The umpires take their time and give India a stroke. Harmanpreet with a superb goal into the TOP CORNER. 6-5 to India. 

Sreejesh reviews asking for a backstick but it's a good goal. Raj Kumar Pal with the pressure 5th attempt and coolly turns the goalkeeper around! It's 5-5, a perfect shootout. 

Abhishek looked like he had run the ball too far, but turns superbly to create an open goal and find the net. 4-4. This has been some shootout. 

Sreejesh tries to rush a bit more this time, but Marc Reyne does superbly to push it out and score. 

Sreejesh loses his stick and Bonastre lifts. Spain lead 3-2. Lalit too scores through the GK feet. Another nutmeg. 3-3. 

Nutmeg from Harmanpreet! How cool was that. Through the GK's feet just as it seemed the chance had gone after a tackle. Spain score their next too, followed by Sukhjeet as well. 2-2 so far, no saves. 

Sreejesh unable to save the first attempt, Basterra scores. 

Full time hooter goes, and there is a scuffle! Not sure quite what happened there but Jarman is involved. Sreejesh and Harman trying to calm things down, eventually high-fives all around. 

Into the final minute, India possession.

NO GOAL! Harmanpreet's drag flick was saved. Hardik sends the rebound back in, goalmouth scramble, but there is a foot there. Akashdeep's goal is ruled out. 

A PC for India after a long review. India are celebrating a goal. But there is an umpire's review. 

It's back to 11 v 11 with 4 mins to go. India haven't had a sniff at goal for a while now, can they find a final push? Spain look likelier to break the deadlock. 

Another PC for Spain, and this is inches away from a late deflection! India are under immense pressure, down to 10 still. 

SREEJESH! Another big save. And soon after another PC for Spain, they are unhappy with the decision are India but they don't have a review. That was off Manpreet's stick. 

Sreejesh saves from the PC again and off the rebound, Sanjay hits a pull shot that would make cricketers proud. But it is deemed dangerous, India review and lose their referral as well. Another PC for Spain. 

Another fine aerial into the box by India but Akashdeep can't make anything out of it after receiving it well. India lose a player as Spain counter. Jugraj Singh given a green card and the referee on this side has been having his eye on Indian defending for a while now. 

Amit Rohidas takes this PC and it's saved. Remains level with 8 mins to go. 

Hardik with a superb aerial with Abhishek waiting at the edge of the circle. A Spain defender intervenes and it's a PC. 

WHAT A SAVE! Saves, actually. Sreejesh produces what looks like a triple-save to keep the scoreboard level. Sensational goalkeeping. India are made to be alert again, Harman with a very calm tackle at an onrushing forward. 

Update from Mihir Vasavda: Bizarre end to Q3 as Spain broke forward and nearly scored as India stopped defending expecting the hooter to go. Harman spends the first 30 seconds of the break arguing with the umpire. India almost stopped playing as the giant screen showed the time finished and hooter didn't sound. The play continued and Spain looked dangerous,

Well, what was that? India's PC routine completely breaks down between Manpreet's trap and Harmanpreet's attempted shot. Then Spain have a superb chance from the counter but the shot is wide. 

Jarmanpreet, who has had a really good game, does well down the right and his ball into the danger area gives India a PC. 

It's end-to-end once again after a few minutes of cagey hockey earlier in the night. Abhishek nearly fashions another chance for India, after a good attacking spell for Spain. 

Harmanpreet doesn't take the shot this time, cutely flicks the ball behind to Sanjay who has a hit on goal. It's saved, then Abhishek puts the rebound in. Fine finish by the forward, who really should be scoring more for his quality. 

Another PC for India who review well for a foot on the first-rusher.

Abhishek does down the left byline to win a PC. Nice 3D skills from the Indian forward. 

Pathak, back in goal for Q3 with the GK rotation, puts a strong boot through to save the drag flick. There was a chance for India to counter but they are sloppy on the ball again. 

Spain coach Caldas says at half time that his side should perhaps have done more for the chances they had. Fulton wants his side to make a fast start to the second half but India have conceded an early PC. 

Craig Fulton at half time: We made a lot of technical errors unfortunately. Great start, then we lost our way little bit. We are giving the ball away too much too easily.

Well, the first-minute goal by Jarman was thrilling but very little else in the opening half that would please Fulton, I imagine. He doesn't come across as the Sir Alex Ferguson type in his interactions but a possible hair-dryer kinda half time team talk wouldn't be out of place. 

The last 5-6 minutes or so could be a contender for the worst phase of hockey India have played under Fulton, in my view. It's been really poor from India, they need to pick themselves up, the half time can't come soon enough.

Jugraj gets himself into a tangle in deep defence and concedes a PC. 

Mihir Vasavda had observed earlier today that India are trying to rotate players in positions within a match. Seeing that today with Manpreet who is now in defense. 

Another turnover by India. This will annoy Fulton more. To lose the middle of the field with Spain not really pressing high, that's not ideal. Vivek there with a miscontrol. Spain attack in the moments after and there is a shot on goal that flies high. Another Spain circle entry, and this time Harman with a strong tackle. 

Hardik trying to quicken the pace through the middle, India with more possession but Spain again try to hit on the counter. Had good numbers there, but Jugraj puts in a fine tackle to stop that. 

India trying to slow things down, keeping the ball... and then trying the long ball from Harmanpreet. No real chances in the first 5 mins of Q2. 

Oh dear. That will not please Fulton. With barely seconds left in the quarter, Harmanpreet tries a long ball from defence that results in India losing the possession, and Spain hit on the counter through brilliant work from Miralles that sets up Lacalle. 

Just as we say that, Spain creating a good chance down the right byline and captain Miralles shoots just wide. 

Also worth noting that Manpreet Singh is playing in central midfield today, after playing deeper in Bhubaneswar mostly. 

Things have quietened down since that blistering start from both sides. More cagey at the moment. 

India win their first PC of the night, Sanjay doing well down the right to win it with a backhand pass into the danger area. Harmanpreet takes this, but it is wide from the Indian talisman. 

And now Spain hit back almost immediately. India concede a PC in the 3rd minute. Basterra with a superbly taken drag flick, not much Krishan Pathak could there. 

Oh wow! What a start! Manpreet Singh picks out Jarmanpreet Singh with a superb aerial out to right, the Indian defender (who is terrific at controlling high balls) receives it, goes into the circle and shoots. Through many defenders, it finds the back of the net.
