Roy Keane slams Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold again: ‘He still defends like he has never played at right-back’

Alexander Arnold has had a successful career at Liverpool becoming one of their most important players in their Champions League and Premier League winning campaigns.

A couple of weeks after criticizing Trent Alexander Arnold’s defensive performance against Manchester United, saying he belongs to Tranmere Rovers and not Real Madrid, Roy Keane once again slammed the Liverpool defender.

“If Trent Alexander-Arnold goes to Real Madrid, then good luck to him – as if Madrid don’t know how to defend. He’s played over 300 games and played for England, but he still defends like he has never played at right-back,” Keane said in the Stick to Football podcast as per the Mirror.

“He’s played all these games, and he must do training sessions, but he’s playing right-back, and people go at him like he’s confused and never seen something like that before. Trent defends as if Liverpool have had lots of injuries, and they’ve asked him to just fill in a position,” he added.

Alexander-Arnold has had a successful career at Liverpool becoming one of their most important players in their Champions League and Premier League winning campaigns. But as much as his attacking prowess has drawn praise, he has also come under harsh criticism due to his defensive attributes.

A few weeks ago, reports broke that the England international has been linked to a move to real Madrid next summer. Since then, he has come under a lot of pressure due to his recent defensive problems with the right back torn to shreds by Keane for his role in letting Manchester United notch up a 2-2 draw against Liverpool on January 5.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold has been all over the place defensively. His defending has been schoolboy stuff. He’s got to do better. They’re talking about him going to Real Madrid. The way he’s defending he’s going to Tranmere Rovers after this,” Keane had said to Sky Sports after the United match.
