An absolute saveazzo from De Gea to keep Ronaldo out. Cuadrado cuts in from the right and Ronaldo takes the shot from the edge of the box. It is going into the top right corner and De Gea acrobatically makes the save.

The only thing of note that happened in the first five minutes was a pitch invasion that had both Allegri and Mourinho beside themselves. Mourinho's bosses, though, won't be too happy with that. One UEFA fine, on the way.

Players in the tunnel

Ronaldo gives Lukaku a handshake and before that he seemed to be staring at Paul Pogba as the Frenchman walked by without paying much attention towards him. Interesting....

He starts

Admit it, that is the only thing you really cared for. So there you go, Cristiano Ronaldo starts. United have named the same squad that played agianst Chelsea. For Juve, Chiellini returns and so does Dybala. Benatia drops to the bench.

Hello and Welcome!

Last time Cristiano Ronaldo came to Old Trafford for a Champions League match, the Manchester United at the time was so incensed by a red card that his team got that he refused to attend the post-match press conference. The only player who would have memories of that night would be David De Gea, the only survivor from that bygone era. There was Ashley Young too but he was among the subs.

Jose Mourinho looked sufficiently grumpy during the pre-match press conference, the feelings to which he described eloquently then and there as, 'I don't like this press conference'

Manchester United vs Juventus Highlights: Ronaldo has played Manchester United once before in the Champions League. He scored the final goal that condemned United to a quarter-final exit in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season. United were also undone by a red card that was shown to the influential Nani in the first half of that match, prompting Jose Mourinho, the opposition manager at the time, to say that the "better team lost." Ronaldo is back now and Mourinho is there too, only this time they are on opposite sides.
