Diego Forlan-led Mumbai City FC eked out a 1-1 draw with Chennaiyin FC. (Source: ISL)
Prior to the contest on Thursday, Chennaiyin FC had won all four of their contests with Mumbai City in the previous two editions of the Indian Super League. But that run came to an end in Chennai on Thursday evening when Leo Costa’s thunderous strike in the 88th minute made it 1-1 and cancelled out Jeje’s strike early on in the second half.
The result helps both sides little in their chase to climb to the top of the league table with one point to both. This means Mumbai continue to remain second in the table – still chasing Atletico de Kolkata at the top – and Chennaiyin go up a spot to fourth.
